In the 1970s and 1980s, ships loaded with African and Caribbean music arrived in Colombian ports on the north coast.
Rhythms such as soukous, mbaqanga, and calypso came to cities such as Cartagena and Barranquilla.
where its inhabitants merged these rhythms, placed their own vocals, and used the samples of the Casio SK5 keyboard.
This mixture of rhythms and sounds resulted in what we know as Champeta.
Speaking specifically about this EP, this is where Champeta meets Electro/Techno.
"Espeluke" is a sound approach where a dialogue between a very influential genre on the Colombian Caribbean Coast and contemporary elementsof electronic music are explored.
This has been the vehicle I have found to integrate my Caribbean essence with the music I love most.
With much love, from the Caribbean to the world.
